Open Text recently released the latest roadmap for LiveLink WCM Presentation Server (or Obtree for short..)

As the slow but inevitable move from Obtree C4 / LiveLink WCM PS continues, I've started to look around at other technologies that I can get into.Open Source has been a bit of a dirty word in UK local authorities for years, and whilst the private sector has been a bit more forward thinking, it still drags way behind Microsoft solutions.

The frustration of web page testing

Back in the mid to late 1990's when I first started dabbling with web sites, there was always a problem making your website look the same across different browsers. Dynamic elements of sites caused particular problems and I remember at least one site where I had to have two separate version's of the same page just to make it look presentable.

2009 - The year mobile internet internet gets big

LiveLink WCM future

There's been a lot of rumours concerning the future of LiveLink WCM over the last year, whilst it's confirmed by Open Text that Red Dot is now their preferred and marketted WCM, it's interesting to see the latest road map for LiveLink WCM (formerly Obtree) which commits to releases up until November 2010.In the same document Open Text state that they actively support products for 18 months after release, and offer a further 18 months self service support (presumably the knowledge base)

Google Woes - How to get indexed?

A client contacted me earlier this week to ask why they'd not yet been picked up by Google.
Unfortunately there’s no correct answer for this and we never guarantee that we’ll get you to the top of Google, just like John Kettley can’t guarantee that you won’t need your umbrella tomorrow afternoon when you pop out for some milk – it’s far too unpredictable.
